Athirapally Waterfalls is located near chalakuday in Thrissur District. this waterfall is a popular picnic spot.Athirappally Falls is about 80 feet high and located in the forest area. The Athirapally Falls join the Chalakkudy River .Describing the scenic beauty of the waterfall in words is almost impossible.This waterfall not only is calm and peaceful but can be wild and challenging as well.
This waterfall has inspired many film makers.Some of the most popular Hindi films to have been shot here are Guru, Dil Se and Raavan, of recent fame.The Athirappilly Falls are situated on the Chalakudy river, which originates in the upper reaches of the Western Ghats. Many endangered and endemic species of flora and fauna are found in the forests of the Athirapilly-Vazhachal area. This area is the only place in the Western Ghats where four endangered Hornbill species are seen. The Western Ghats is one of the most important biodiversity hot spot in the world. This valuable natural world is already degraded by mining and hydro electric projects.
You are allowed to visit the waterfall only between 8 am and 6 pm.

By Road - You have to move till a Place Chalakudy along the NH 42 From Eranakulam, via Angamali. It takes roughly 1-2 Hours
